Rurally situated midway between the historic medieval city of Carcassonne and Rennes le Chateau (source for Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code) our comfortable, sunny apartment, or gite, forms the top floor of a house set in mature gardens on the outskirts of a typical Cathare village and within easy reach of all local services. Cherries, figs, apricots and mulberries are all available to pick from the garden in season.

Sleeping four adults the accommodation comprises:

The large private terrace has shaded and full sun areas and a pleasant peaceful view to the old village of Pieusse and its surrounding hills. Wild thyme and rosemary are abundant and together with buddleias help to attract many butterflies.

Our rural position provides beautiful warm starry nights with bats flitting at dusk and the chance of seeing the bright green light of female glow worms in the garrigue on the hillside behind the terrace.

There's enjoyment for all in the Aude's rich landscape, from outdoor sports, festivals, music events and wine tasting to visiting the many sites of historical and cultural interest. The nearby town of Limoux (5 min car, 10 min cycle) spans the river Aude and has a lively centre with its picturesque square and ample choice of bakeries, butchers, chacuteries and other shops. Limoux is famed for its Blanquette (a special sparkling wine), festivals in August and October and for its unique spring carnival that extends over 3 months
